Steve Lykins

Executive Director
Mothers Against Drunk Driving – San Diego County

 
Steve Lykins was selected as the Executive Director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving
(MADD), San Diego Affiliate in July, 2012. Since that time, Steve has also gained
responsibility for all MADD functions in Riverside and Imperial counties. Prior to his
position with MADD, Steve was a member of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for 29
years, retiring as an Assistant Chief in December, 2010. His diverse career includes
assignments as a road patrol officer and Field Sergeant in Santa Fe Springs, South Los
Angeles, and El Cajon. Management assignments included duties as a Legislative
Liaison for the CHP at the State Capitol, Commander of the Office of Dignitary
Protection, and Captain in charge of the CHP-El Cajon office. As an Assistant Chief for
the last 9 years of his career, Steve oversaw CHP field operations in San Diego,
Imperial, and Orange Counties. Additionally, he was responsible for CHP Air
Operations and Commercial Enforcement Operations in these Counties. From 2005 to
2010, he represented California as the Governor’s representative to the Public Safety
Work Table of the annual Border Governor’s Conference (Mexico and U.S.) Steve
holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of San Diego.
Steve was born and raised in San Diego and resides with his family in the East County.
